Vank Cathedral (Isfahan)

There were wars between Safavid kings and Ottomans in the beginning of 17th century, 1603-1618. Like always, there was a country or dynasty that had a dream of having Iran as its territory. The wars were in northwest of Persia in where Armenians were living. It made them deportees who left their homeland and moved toward the plateau in Iran for having a safer life maybe. Since the Armenians were believers, hundreds of thousands of them established a monastery in Jolfa district of Isfahan and called it Vank or Surp Amenaprgich. It would be mentioned that Jolfa was the name of their motherland in northwest of the country, in Azerbaijan province of Iran. Even now, there is a city in border line of Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Continued…
