Tabriz

In the third largest city of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the largest city in north-west of Persia, there are living people whose first language is called Azari Turkish, a nice accent and a sweet language. There are the earliest found inscriptions which are dating back to the time of Sargon II, the Assyrian King in almost 714 B.C. Those inscriptions are talking about Tabriz and call it Tarui or Tauris. They say Tabriz or Tapariz or Tauris has been the capital for some rulers commencing from Atropates era and his dynasty. Tabriz that used to be considered as the fourth largest city in the world during 1500, was the capital of Iran in the Safavid dynasty era. The school of Tabriz is famous among Iranians, the school which started from the time of the second king of Qajar and continued and reached to the Constitution. The city, that its name in Middle Persian was Tapariz and is appointed as the exemplary tourism city in 2018 by Organization of Islamic Cooperation is located in the Quru River valley. Tabriz is between the long ridge of the volcanic cones of the Sahand and Eynali mountains. Tabriz's altitude averagely is 1450 meters above sea level. This city that has the turquoise of Islam during sometimes was occupied. Tabriz was occupied by Ottomans and it were Safavid kings who made it free. It was occupied again in Qajar period and World War II. Although Pahlavi II declared the neutrality of Iran, the country was occupied by the allied forces. Then by the aids of Soviet Union a local government used to manage the affairs in Tabriz. The manager was Mr. Pishevari who held power for one year in1946. His service was offering more freedom to speech and also education in (Turkish) Azerbaijani language. He tried to promote local cultural heritage that resulted in some popularity for him. Withdrawal of Soviet forces was a golden time for Iran army to limit and control the autonomous forces in Tabriz.
