The cradle of Persia prehistoric cultures has a long amazing pre-historic and historic periods. Ancient Persian mythology says that the construction of Kermanshah dates back to the time of the third king of Pishdadian dynasty who was Tahmures. Since Prehistoric till the Lower Paleolithic periods, people were living in Kermanshah; they continued their life there until Paleolithic late Pleistocene periods. It is also believed that it were the Sassanian kings who constructed Kermanshah. The name Kermanshah derivate from the name of a Sassanian king who is Bahram IV. This king was called Kerman; then the term Kermanshah means “the King of Kerman”. It was renamed Bakhtaran in the 1980s for a short period of time. The name had been changed to it for eliminating the term “Shah” since the Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979. Then the city got its name backed and is till now called “Kermanshah”. This city which is the sister of four famous cities, Gaziantep of Turkey, Split of Croatia, Sicily of Italy and Roseburg of the United States of America, is located in the fertile valley of the Qareh Sū River (Black Water). People of Kermanshah, who are called Kurds, see winter snow just during some weeks of winter. They city, that during the imposed war of Iran-Iraq called Qahramanshar (the city of heroes), is located on the ancient caravan route between the Mediterranean Sea and Central Asia. The climate of Bakhtaran is heavily under the influence of the Zagros Mountains which causes hot dry of Csa (summer Mediterranean climate). Kurds are very famous and intelligent people.
